Why internal podcasts fail before they start

All-hands nobody watches

The recording lands in SharePoint. Nobody watches 90 minutes of slides on their lunch break.

A 15-minute episode reaches the people who were never in the room.

No proof of training completion

Six weeks after the compliance upload, 30% opened the PDF. Nobody knows how many read it.

Completion tracking shows who finished each episode, per department.

Private podcast leaked publicly

Someone forwards the feed link, and the CEO update turns up in a public podcast directory.

There is no link to forward. Your people listen in Springcast Mobile, behind your own login, and on the platform the show stays hidden.

IT rejects US data hosting

Listening behavior is personal data under GDPR, and your DPO won't accept a US server.

Hosted in the Netherlands, ISO 27001 certified, DPA ready to sign.

500 accounts to manage by hand

Every employee needs access, and you're not creating 500 accounts manually.

SSO grants and revokes access through your identity provider automatically.

What's included

Built for internal podcasts, not adapted from public hosting

Springcast Mobile

Your own branded listening app, invite-only. Employees sign in with their work account and see only the shows their groups give them.

Push on new episodes

Follow a show and the next episode arrives as a notification on the phone. Nobody has to remember to go looking for it.

Transcript that follows the audio

Where a transcript is available it scrolls along with the audio, for reading in a quiet room or in a second language. Chapters with timestamps let people jump straight to the part they need.

Audio and video, one tap apart

Episodes with video switch from audio to video at the same second, and back again. Start on the walk in, finish at your desk.

SSO authentication

Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Okta, SAML 2.0. Employees log in with their company credentials. No separate accounts to manage.

Per-team access control

Marketing hears the marketing podcast. Engineering hears engineering. The CEO update goes to everyone. You control who hears what.

Completion analytics

Who listened? How far did they get? Which department? Completion rates per episode, the data L&D needs to prove training ROI.

Authenticated player

Branded, embedded, login-required. No anonymous access. Embeddable on your intranet or standalone.

Department dashboards

Analytics broken down by team, department, and location. See which office engages most. Export for stakeholder reports.

EU-hosted (Netherlands)

Employee listening data is personal data under GDPR. Springcast: Netherlands-hosted, ISO 27001, DPA included.

Episode-level restrictions

Restrict specific episodes to specific groups. Board updates for leadership only. Onboarding series for new hires only.

Branded internal player

Your logo, your colors. Looks like an internal tool, because it is. No Springcast branding visible.

Password-protected website

Keep a private show's website online and lock it: set a password, or connect it to the same login your people already use in Springcast Mobile. One account opens both the app and the web player, no second system to manage.

Offboarding

Employee leaves, their identity provider account is deactivated, and they can no longer sign in. Removing the user record itself runs through our API.

Private distribution

Your podcast. Your people. Nobody else.

Private podcasts on Springcast are private by architecture, not by obscurity: a hidden show on the platform, Springcast Mobile behind your own identity provider, and zero public directory submissions. There is no public feed to find.

Access control

The right content to the right team. Automatically.

Access follows the organization: show-level and episode-level restrictions sync from your identity provider. Marketing joins, they get the marketing podcast. They move teams, access updates. They leave, they can no longer sign in. No spreadsheets. No manual group lists.

Internal analytics

Know who listened. Know who didn't.

Internal analytics answer the right question: not "how many downloads?" but "which departments listened, and did they finish?" For L&D, that's the difference between gut feel and auditable completion data. Know who listened. Know who didn't.

Springcast vs. the alternatives for internal podcasting

For most organizations, the real alternative is not another podcast tool. It is SharePoint, an intranet audio player, or a workaround built on a consumer podcast host. We have included all of them. Where Storyboard is stronger, we will say so. Where SharePoint has a genuine advantage, we acknowledge it.

On SharePoint

It is already in your stack. That is a real advantage we cannot compete with on cost. Where it falls short: no podcast-native listening app, no push when something new lands, no completion tracking per listener, and no audio optimization. Springcast is not free. But if employees are not engaging with audio on SharePoint, the cost of the tool is the least of your problems.

On Storyboard

If your organization needs deep LMS integration as the primary use case, Storyboard is a strong dedicated option. Their LMS integration is mature and purpose-built for L&D workflows. Springcast's advantage: podcast-native audio quality and distribution, full EU compliance with transparent pricing, and the same platform that handles both internal and external podcasts if your organization runs both.

Where Springcast wins

Private-by-architecture distribution, completion analytics tied to authenticated listeners, EU hosting for employee data, and one platform for both internal and external shows. If those matter, the comparison shifts decisively.

Pricing

One price for the whole organization

What's included

Internal podcast features, Springcast Mobile, SSO, per-team access control, completion analytics, EU-hosting, ISO 27001, and a signed DPA are included in every Company plan. No add-on pricing for the features that make internal podcasting work.

No price per employee, no price per listener, no SSO add-on. Fifty people or five thousand makes no difference to the price. Roll out to everyone instead of stopping at a pilot group.

Company is an annual plan, invoiced. Pricing is on request: talk to sales and you get a quote for your organization. For more than 10,000 employees or specific requirements (custom DPA clauses, dedicated SLA, multi-region hosting), enterprise pricing is available. All prices exclude VAT. Purchase-order friendly.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

No, and that is deliberate. Listening in a public app means subscribing to a feed link, and a feed link can be forwarded. That is how internal updates end up in a public directory. Your people listen in Springcast Mobile, the app you brand as your own, behind your own login. New episodes arrive as a push notification for everyone following the show. On the platform the show stays hidden. For anyone who would rather listen at a desk, the authenticated web player uses the same login.
You invite them from Springcast Pro, one by one or with a CSV import, and manage pending invitations from the same screen. They download Springcast Mobile from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with their email address. If you use SSO, they go straight through to your identity provider: no password, no separate account. The app is available in English, Dutch, German and Danish.
Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Okta, and any SAML 2.0-compliant identity provider. Setup typically takes 1-2 hours with your IT team. Springcast supports both IdP-initiated and SP-initiated SSO flows. Users are created just-in-time at first login, and their group memberships sync from your identity provider at every login, based on your group mapping.
Yes. Access control works at two levels: show-level (entire shows assigned to departments or groups synced from your identity provider) and episode-level (individual episodes restricted to specific groups within a show). Groups sync from your identity provider, so there is no manual list to maintain.
When an employee is deactivated in your identity provider (Microsoft Entra ID, Okta), they can no longer sign in, so their access to Springcast Mobile and to the web player ends. The user record itself is removed through our API. The audit log records the access change with a timestamp.
Yes. Analytics are broken down by department, team, and location, based on the identity provider groups you use for access control. You can see listen rates, completion rates per episode, and engagement trends per group. Export as PDF for leadership reporting or CSV for integration with HR or L&D systems.
No to both. There is no listener cap on Company and no price per user. Pricing is per organization. Above 10,000 employees, talk to us about enterprise pricing.
Completion data is available via API. Common use case: push completion events to your LMS for compliance tracking. Webhook triggers on episode completion are supported.
Employee listening data is personal data under GDPR. Springcast is hosted in the Netherlands, within the EU. ISO 27001 certified. A full DPA is available for immediate signing, and the sub-processor list is published and kept current. Listening data is never shared with third parties. Anonymous aggregate mode is available for organizations that do not want individual-level tracking. Data retention is configurable. Full detail: EU compliance →
Yes. Full white-label on Company tier: your colors and your logo, in Springcast Mobile and in the embedded web player. The player embeds on your intranet, HR portal, or a standalone show page. No Springcast branding is visible to employees. It looks like something you built, because you configured it.
SharePoint stores files. Springcast delivers podcasts. In Springcast Mobile, employees listen on their phone during the commute, without opening the intranet, and a push tells them when something new lands. Authenticated access means you know who listened. Completion analytics mean you can prove training was consumed.
Real podcasters. Real results.
